Algal ecophysiology and biochemistry

The scientific work is carried out on the basis of MBS SPbSU and in the laboratory of Photosynthesis (department of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Biological faculty).

Principal topics:
Hormonal and metabolic regulation of the assimilation apparatus in different systematic groups of algae;
Biochemical monitoring of phyto- and zooplankton – assessment of its physiological condition and ability to provide a food base for hydrobionts;
Ecological and physiological interactions in the intertidal symbiotic systems;
Specificity of reactive oxygen species metabolism in marine macrophytes;
Investigations of algal biochemistry (low-molecular-weight compounds and specific secondary metabolites) using the different variants of metabolomics (GC-MS, LC-MS);
Influence of hydrodynamic conditions on the embryogenesis of marine macrophytes;
Complementary chromatic adaptation in the free-living and symbiotic cyanobacteria.
